Nonprofit Board Checklist: Roles & Responsibilities
I learned a lot from The INS Group’s webinar and will be using the information that I learned here in the future, as well making sure that I obtain more skills from future classes given by The INS Group.
Thanks to an opportunity by the forward-thinking Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation, Help, Inc. applied for a grant to increase capacity and sustainability and became a grantee. The agency was allowed to choose a fundraising consultant who best met our needs. Ruth Peebles with The INS Group was the first choice by the Board of Directors. Her experience, professionalism, organization skills, and motivating nature were a perfect fit to what our Board needed to move forward with a comprehensive Strate…
The INS Group consistently goes above and beyond in meeting the diverse and ever-evolving needs of our new nonprofit. We have benefited significantly from their expertise and seasoned guidance. I first met Ruth Peebles during one (of what became several!) of her courses offered through Duke’s Nonprofit Management Certificate Program. The manner in which she shared so much valuable information about various aspects of non-profit organizations, in such a way that made it possible to take back…
I think that the ‘Grant Writing Made Simple’ webinar was an excellent source of information. I learned a great deal of information on ‘how to’ and the proper steps to take in planning and writing a grant proposal.
The ’12 Steps to Securing a Successful Grant’ webinar was very informative. It gave me some good insight on items to focus on to get started with our grassroots organization.
Ruth always provides solid, thoughtful, understandable explanations of important issues being addressed in the nonprofit community.
Having attended the ‘ABCs of Grant Writing’ workshop, I feel more informed about the basic principles of grant writing and have been provided with the tools to better prepare grant applications. Bravo!
We are extremely fortunate to work with you, Ruth, because you possess an exceptional combination of qualities that make you a great consultant: expertise, forthrightness and sensitivity. What makes it easy to talk — and listen — to you is the fact that you’re a good listener yourself, and you know how to speak the truth without being condescending.
The information presented in the ’12 Steps to Securing a Successful Grant’ webinar was very helpful. Even though I am a grant developer (I find this term more inclusive of the process of grant writing), I always learn something new in Ruth’s sessions. New and grassroots organizations tend to see grant writing as an event and not a process.
The ’12 Steps for Securing a Successful Grant’ webinar information was well organized and presented in a way that the any lay person could understand the information. I really enjoyed the presentation.
The ‘How to Grow Your Individual Donor Base’ webinar was very helpful, especially the information presented about the case statement. Our organization is young — but growing quickly — so it was great to learn about areas of development that we need to focus on throughout our expansion.
Ruth is very knowledgeable in the area of grant writing! I really enjoyed her ’12 Steps to Securing a Successful Grant’ webinar and it was a great refresher course for me. I had the opportunity to attend one of her previous grant writing workshops (ABCs of Grant Writing) and found all of the information to be very helpful. Because of the valuable information I have gained from this course, I was able to write successful grant applications which allowed our non-profit organization to grow financi…
I’ve been to several trainings about applying for grants, but the ‘ABCs of Grant Writing’ training was by far the most comprehensive. In addition to providing a review and a thorough overview, I learned new insights to give me confidence and improve my knowledge about seeking grants.
In early 2015, Dr. Dumas Harshaw, Jr. began to to realize that his church’s congregation was changing. The pastor of First Baptist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina knew that his church needed a new plan for the future. “I could see the generation that had been so strong in sustaining the church begin to die …
